Inbajin, my warrior, got his Quel'Serrar today. It's quite a tough item to get. You first have to get Foror's Compendium of Dragon Slaying from Dire Maul or buy it from someone. Then you need to go to Dire Maul to get a Unfired Ancient Blade. You take the Unfired Ancient Blade to Onyxia and plant it in the ground where she will breathe fire on it. After you have killed Onyxia, you need to pick it up and stab her with it to turn it into a Treated Ancient Blade. Then you go back to DM and turn it in for your Quel'Serrar. I got it after my third attempt.
This is one of the best tanking warrior swords in the game and I'm very excited. ;-) Thanks to everyone in the guild who helped me get this.
I just got my Sorcerer's Regalia set aka Dungeon 2 aka Tier 0.5 set. This was a very long quest chain ending with the spirit of Lord Valthalakar in Upper Blackrock Spire. Thanks to everyone who helped me finish this chain.
On the other hand I'm already 6/8 on my Arcanist Regalia so it's slightly too little too late, but I'm not complaining!
This Thursday night (US Central) we downed Onyxia. When Onyxia dies, you get to loot the head of Onyxia. When you bring the head to the gates of Stormwind, the main human city, it triggers an event that gives everyone in the city a buff (good magic) that will make you stronger for awhile. On Sunday, our second Molten Core day (we clear all but the two last bosses in Molten Core on Saturdays), we gathered at the gates of Stormwind and celebrated our victory against Onyxia while Persimmon, our raid leader, turned in the head of Onyxia. (I guess it was in her bag for two days... ewww...) All buffed up and ready to go, we headed over to Molten Core to see Ragnaros.
The guild was able to kill Ragnaros for the first time last week, but I missed that run. This week, after a week of discussion on the forums about strategy and preparation of potions and flasks, we were able to take down Ragnaros with 60 seconds to spare. This was quite a victory for us. However, we were all doped up on potions and flasks and that probably contributed significantly to our success. There were a few things we could have done better. (Like I could have not died in phase 2.)
However, taking down Ragnaros (the last and hardest boss in Molten Core) is a great feeling after training for, gearing up for and working on completing Molten Core since January. (Flickr picture of our first MC pull)
Our World of Warcraft guild has been running Molten Core (one of the end-games) on weekends. We now have a fairly reliable turnout of 40 people for the raids and have started making progress with the bosses. We cleared Lucifron, Magmadar, Gehennas and just took down Garr. (smallish mov / bigger avi / 270MB hi-quality mov) It took us a few tries and isn't as easy (especially the setup) as it looks in the video, but it should be pretty easy from now on. We seem to have our communications and planning relatively organized now and with the help of some of the more experienced players should be able to keep moving until we hit a boss that requires us to get new gear. What is interesting to me about these raids is the combination of preparation, planning and real-time coordination necessary to execute properly and I imagine how these skills could be used for conducting other sorts of activities.
